Shepherd’s Pie VI - Adapted from allrecipes.com [recipe link]
Ingredients:
- 4 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped onion
- 1/4 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
- salt and pepper to taste
- 5 carrots, chopped
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 cup of water
- 1 packet of brown gravy powder
- 1/4 cup worcester sauce
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1/4 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
- 3 cloves garlic
- 1 1/2 cup mixed frozen veggies
Directions:
- Wash, peel, and cut potatoes into 1/2” pieces
- Peel carrots
- Boil a big pot of water and add some salt. Add potatoes and carrots and boil for 15 minutes.
- Chop or mash carrots and set aside
- Mash potatoes with butter, cheese, onion and garlic. Add salt and pepper to taste.
- In a skillet, cook onions until clear. Add beef and till brown, then add the water, gravy powder, flour, ketchup, and worcester sauce. Add the Simmer until it starts to get thick. Then add the mixed veggies and mix!
- Lay the meat mixture at the bottom of the casserole pan, then add the carrots then mashed potatoes on top. To make it look nice, fluff the potatoes with a fork and then sprinkle cheese of top.
- Bake for 20 minutes at 375 degrees.
- Then, set the oven to broil and broil for 3-5 minutes, checking often until the tips of the potatoes are brown and crispy!
